“To Go For A Walk”

To go for a walk
is to take a courageous step of solitude
despite a dreary attitude
and still, to find the world awaited you
in magnitude

The wind’s ancient respiration
races through the woods
like the biggest flock of invisible bats you’ve ever heard

The cloud parade outpaces you
hardly, to the same percussive tempo that turns the sky blue
and orange
and pink
and purple

To the same percussive tempo that bleeds ink
from the West above
and then reveals the rest, above
infinite brilliant white specs of light

In a moment of such consideration,
you can’t help but think the whole universe fits like a glove

Amen,

It’s time to turn around
I need to make dinner
set my clothes out for the morning
brush my teeth
I’m flossing again
What work am I doing tomorrow?
That was a nice walk.
Wait, I should turn around now.
